Frequently asked questions
Atmos uses your location only to fetch weather data for where you are right now. Your location is sent to our weather provider to return a forecast, then discarded — we never store it on our servers. You can also search for and save named locations manually without sharing your GPS position.
Atmos compares several independent forecast providers — MET Norway, Apple WeatherKit, Pirate Weather, WeatherAPI, and Bright Sky (Deutscher Wetterdienst) — and shows you where they agree and where they diverge. When they agree, confidence is high. When they diverge, Atmos tells you so rather than hiding the uncertainty behind a single number.
Accuracy depends on your location, terrain, and how far ahead you're looking. Atmos's confidence score reflects how much the models agree — a high score means a more reliable forecast, while a low score is your signal to check back closer to the time. No app can guarantee weather accuracy; we just give you a clearer picture of certainty.
Tap the Premium option in the app to see what's included and subscribe. Payment is handled entirely through Apple In-App Purchases — we never see your payment details. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone.
Open Atmos, go to the Premium screen, and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID you used when you originally subscribed. If the restore doesn't work, contact us and we'll help.
Saved locations and preferences are stored locally on your device. If you have iCloud backup enabled, Apple will back these up as part of your device backup — they'll be restored automatically if you reinstall or switch to a new iPhone.
First try pulling down to refresh — forecasts update regularly. If the issue persists, it may reflect genuine model divergence for your location, which Atmos will show as a lower confidence score. If something looks clearly wrong rather than just uncertain, send us a message below with your location and the date/time in question.
No. Atmos is designed to give you better everyday weather awareness, but it should not be relied on for aviation, maritime, mountaineering, or any other safety-critical activity. Always use official meteorological services and qualified professionals for high-stakes decisions.
